It sure has been a while

I just realized I had this blog and have never updated it - so here's my update. I have been taking drawing lessons for a couple of years now an greatly enjoy realistic drawing in pencil. It's a direction I never thought to pursue but with the right teacher (and Bob Boroski is my wonderful teacher) a whole new area opened up. Why pencil drawings? They are slow to accomplish and don't command that much respect or money in the market. Well - I have all the time in the world to explore and draw - why be in a hurry to complete something. Pencils are non-toxic, easy to transport and truly can accomplish amazing nuance. A great medium. I'm waiting for a good image of my last drawing to put up, but here is my previous drawing. More to come soon.

Paintings to Start the Year Off

The painting above is one of my beloved Miss Blue - my sweet tempered lovely cat. I caught her looking out the window one day and took a photo - seemed as if it would make a great painting. I'm happy with it.

The painting below was a gift for a friend of her pet.
The painting below was another ift for a friend of the family pet.
My one painting of a bird - not bad I think. I like the contrasts in the colors and the natural coloring of the bird forced me into a color palette I would never use.
This is one of my early still life paintings.
A Fall themed still life.
While I love painting, I have taken a step back and am now studying seriously the art of drawing and illustration. Classes once or twice a week. I'm sure it will improve my art and help me see better. As I study art I realize how we all see things differently, not politically (although that certainly is true) but actually see. Colors are different to each of us. But so is composition. So much of being able to achieve in art is training in translating what you see to the canvas. I hope the paintings I do this year will show this change in my "vision."

Mid September Jewelry

Hi everyone!
This has been a busy September and I have been working on some fall inspired designs. I'm getting a new lens for the camera so I can do some better close ups and will add more photos when I get it. I just couldn't do justice to some of the jewels and earrings. I hope you like the designs.

As a reminder they are for sale at www.missbluedesigns.etsy.com

This first design features sterling Bali beads, garnet, onyx and sterling connectors on a braided leather cord.

And here are the gorgeous matching earrings! These also have jet black Swarovski bicone crystals!
And here is the matching bracelet!
This is my peacock necklace. Perfect to wear with jeans! It features lapis lazuli and chrysocolla stones which really bring out the blue and green of the peacock.

Strung on jade colored silk, this necklace is jade with copper accents with a gold filled clasp.

This necklace is a fancy silk choker of adjustable length and jasper.

I have had some requests to purchase my jewelry and I have created a place just for this purpose. The url is www.missbluedesigns.etsy.com. Use paypal and I'll happily ship your purchase off to you! I'm getting a slow start getting the stuff up there - just one for now, but keep checking and there will be more. In the meantime here are some new designs

More Jewels

This necklace is made of copper and jade.

These are a few of my hearts - my trademark (as my grandson would tell you).
The hearts are blown Murano glass and strung on satin or leather.

On twisted black leather, this choker is onyx, coral and Bali vermeil beads
